Gilbert Clifford Breeding, age 85 of Finksburg, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 at Carroll Hospice Dove House in Westminster. Born August 16, 1935, he was the son of the late William Alfred and Mary Anne Ackman Breeding. He was the husband of Janet German Breeding of Finksburg, his wife of 59 years. Gilbert was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He had been a forest ranger with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources and a farmer for many years. He was an avid rodeo horseman and enjoyed entering the jousting competitions at Deer Park United Methodist Church picnics. He was awarded the Conservation Educator of the Year award with the Maryland Wildlife Federation in 1973 and was a 2020 inductee to the Carroll County Department of Parks and Recreation Hall of Fame. Surviving in addition to his wife are daughter Linda T. Bell of Sparrows Point, and brothers Robert Breeding of Sykesville, and Paul Breeding of Broomfield, CO. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Haight Funeral Home & Chapel, 6416 Sykesville Rd., Sykesville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment in Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Finksburg. Masks, social distancing, and a total limit of 50 people will be required at the funeral home.
