Joyce Spaulding Leahy, 88, of Westminster, passed away on September 7, 2017 at her home in Brightview-Westminster Ridge. Born on June 18, 1929 in Allendale, New Jersey, Joyce was the daughter of the late Harold and Ruth (Hook) Spaulding. She was married for 57 years to the late Frank Edward Leahy who passed away in 2012. Joyce graduated from Ridgewood High School in New Jersey and attended The Traphagen School of Fashion in New York City. She spent much of her career as an accounting specialist for the Peterson, Howell and Heather as well as the C&P Telephone Co. She was an avid quilter and seamstress and several of the quilts made in her quilting group were donated for fund raisers. She enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Joyce is survived by her daughter Susan Kemp Leahy of Chicago, her son Kenneth James Leahy, his wife Melissa Leahy and two grandsons, Nicholas and Benjamin Leahy all of Westminster, Maryland. In addition to her children, Joyce leaves her sister, Patricia Carrier of Cooperstown, NY and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was the sister of Ruth Ann Hershner, Shirley Crawford, Robert Spaulding and Harold E. Spaulding, all of whom predeceased her. The family will welcome visitors on Saturday, October 7th at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel from 10 - 11 a.m. with a Memorial Service directly following at 11 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
