I am missing you, Kathleen.
August 22, 2012
I dearly loved Kathleen for many, many years. I first learned who she was when I went with my friends Cathy and Jim Lorsong to CDC. I'm not even Catholic! The motivation was we thought the teacher, Mic Maury, was cool :). I met Kathleen officially when we were both Juniors at Atholton and found we had exactly the same schedules. We worked at Thunderhill Day Care Center together with Marty Eyler, whom I'm sorry to say is also no longer with us. After that, I was away from Maryland for 6 years and shortly upon returning got a job as a psych tech at Howard Co General which was on the 3rd floor of a nursing home. One day I got on the elevator to go to work and there was Kathleen! She was visiting her grandfather in the nursing home. She was training volunteers for Grassroots at the time. We became fast friends again and she came to work at Ho Co Gen too. Later we both went to UMaB School of Social Work and we both ended up working in Carroll Co, she at Youth Services and I at Mental Health. Through out those years we socialized with our families and friends often. My daughter, Joyela, and I have such fond memories of Sicily and those times which continued until we left for Fargo with my husband-to-be. This was just after Anna was born and sweet Sam the man was into making pretend pies :). Though we spoke seldom over the next 12 or so years, it was as though we'd just seen each other the day before. Then sadly we lost touch with each other. My sister recently was in Maryland and heard Kathleen was gone. I will cherish her memory and the stories of her life for the rest of my life. Rest in peace dear Kathleen. I know that Kathleen loved her family very much and I wish you all peace and comfort too.

To Kathleen's family,
I only knew Kathleen a short time but she always had a smile for me when I saw her. I know she loved her children very much. My thoughts are with all of you.
