Mary Catherine Massicot Eckard, 98, of Westminster, died Sunday, May 5, 2013, at Look About Manor .
Born Feb. 11, 1915, in Westminster, she was the daughter of the late James Milton and Margaret Chrest Massicot. She was wife of William M. Eckard Jr., her husband of 74 years, who died March 22, 2010.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church in Westminster, graduated from St. John High School in 1933 and was the oldest living graduate of the school. She was a homemaker and active in the church and the community.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Margaret A. and Harry S. Mandel, of Redmond, Wash.; a daughter-in-law, Erma G. Eckard; sons and daughters-in-law James M. and Alice H. Eckard, Stephen A. "Tony" and Donna R. Eckard, and Michael F. Eckard, all of Westminster; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Thomas William Eckard Sr., who died in 1999.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Pritts Funeral Home & Chapel, 412 Washington Road, Westminster.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John Catholic Church, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, with Jaime Garcia officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Finksburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. John Catholic School, 43 Monroe St., Westminster, MD 21157; or to Shepherd's Staff, 30 Carroll St., P.O. Box 127, Westminster, MD 21158.
