Nora J. Hamby, 96, of Reisterstown, died Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, at Futurecare Cherrywood in Reisterstown.
Born July 23, 1916, in Grassy Creek, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Rush and Dorsia Jones Blevins. She was the wife of the late Gingel "Lee" Hamby, and the late Walter N. Jespersen Sr.
She owned and operated the Norlee Art Gallery for 26 years on the corner of Thomas and Hays Street in Bel Air. She was a volunteer at the Community Crisis Center in Reisterstown.
Surviving are daughter and son-in-law Susan J. and Alvin B. Courtney, of Reisterstown; grandchildren Evonne C. and husband Robert T. Connolly II, of Washington, D.C.; great-granddaughters Caroline and Olivia Connolly; a brother, Judd Blevins, of Craigtown; stepdaughters Virginia Lee Sauers, of Benson, and Jeannie Kidd, of Fallston; and stepgrandchildren Vicki Rocka, Walter N. Jespersen III, Michael and Michele Sauers, Marjorie Churn, Meredith Miller, and Kerry and Kevin Grindle.
She was predeceased by a son, Walter N. Jespersen Jr.; siblings Jeston Blevins, Hursey Deboard, Lessie Hash, Liza Arnold, Jewel Blevens, Mary Peake, Ray Blevins, Lois Holloway and Genevieve Campbell; and a granddaughter, Donna Keb.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the time of service, 1 p.m. Saturday at Eline Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Asbury Cemetery in Craigtown.
