Roger Lee Buffington, age 90, New Midway, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016 at Kline Hospice House, near New Market, after a brief illness. Born March 8, 1926 in Union Bridge, he was the son of the late Ira Clinton Buffington and Edna J. Crabbs Buffington. He was the husband of the late Mary Anna Fogle Buffington who died in 2014. Mr. Buffington worked as a lifetime farmer with his wife on the family farm, Windy Hill Farm. He was a member of the Frederick County Farm Bureau and enjoyed farming, his cows, the farm animals and pets, music, and reading the newspaper and farm magazines. Surviving are daughter, Barbara Ann Buffington of New Midway; son Edward E. Buffington and wife Nina of Fulton, MD; granddaughters, Jennifer M. and Lindsay D. Buffington; sister, Lois Smith of New Windsor and brother, Charles E. "Jack" Buffington of Union Bridge. He was predeceased by a five-year old sister, Phyllis Jane Buffington and a brother, Russell C. Buffington. The family wish to express appreciation to the staff of Kline Hospice House for the compassionate care they provided. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 2 at Hartzler Funeral Home, 404 S. Main St., Woodsboro. Interment will follow in Glade Cemetery, Walkersville. The family will receive friends at the funeral home 2-4 p.m. Saturday, December 31. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kline Hospice House, P.O. Box 1799, Frederick, MD 21702.
