Bertie Jeffries Obituary

Bertie Jeffries of Hustonville died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013. She was 100. Born on Sept. 27, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Allen and Ida Coffman Murphy. Bertie was a member of Mt. Salem Baptist Church for 85 years where she taught women's Sunday School for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Irvin "Red" Jeffries; and four brothers and two sisters. She is survived by a son, Samuel Glenn (and Della) Jeffries; three grandchildren, Jennifer Lee Jeffries of Liberty, Samuel Alan (and Tracy) Jeffries of Lexington and Shannon (and Natalie) Cooley of Elizabethtown; and four great grandchildren, Jenna Bender, Derek Sallee and Emily and Reid Jeffries. Services will be at 1 p.m. today (Wednesday, Feb. 27) at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Bro. Mike Mullins and Bro. Kevin Pittman with burial in Middleburg Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 a.m. today. Pallbearers will be John Elliott Jr., Otis Gene Delk, Bobby Jeffries, Durward Jeffries, Alan Jeffries and Shannon Cooley. Guestbook at www.wlpruitt.com.
