Barbara Elgonitis
June 30, 1937 - May 9, 2021
Hanover Township, Pennsylvania - Barbara Elgonitis, 83, of Hanover Township, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2021, at Guardian Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Nanticoke.
Barbara was born in Plymouth, the only child of Charles and Caroline Federovich Slucki. She was a graduate of Hanover High School. Barbara was employed for many years at RCA Corporation in Mountain Top.
Barbara was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church in Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of the St. Aloysius Altar and Rosary Society and its Senior Citizen's Club. Barbara was also a member of Trinity House of Plymouth and St. Mary's Senior Citizen's Friendship Club.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Anthony F. Elgonitis, on June 17, 2020.
Surviving is her daughter, Carol Elgonitis Sosnowski and her husband, Alex, State College; grandchildren, Eric Sosnowski, Charlotte, NC; and Ashley Sosnowski and her fiancé, Andreas Loki Haggiandreou, Boiling Springs, SC; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM on Saturday from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10 AM in St. Robert Bellarmine Parish at St. Aloysius Church, 143 Division Street, Wilkes-Barre.
Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call on Friday from 2-4 PM at the funeral home. Those attending the visitation and funeral are required to wear a mask and abide by social distancing requirements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association of NEPA, Suite 110, 968 Postal Road, Allentown, PA 18109.
