I was sad to hear that Barry passed away. I had been writing to him in the last few years, but I hadn't heard from him lately. Barry was always a great guy, he loved the Outdoors, hunted, fished, camped, and was always willing to pass on what he knew to improve my outdoor skills. I will miss visiting him when I was camping outside of Quehanna Wild Area with my nephew. He had us over for a wild turkey dinner he served us on our last trip that included a stop at his place in Pine Glenn.

Rest in Peace Barry.

To the Grove family from Willowbank Street days: Sorry to hear of Barry's passing; many good memories of backyard sports. May God support you as you mourn this loss.

To Dave, and the entire Grove family,

It is with a sad heart that I write this, but I want you all to know that my thoughts are with you.

I will always remember Barry as a kind and gentle brother-in-law! I admired his strength, courage and ability "to live off the land," and his love of nature.

Two incidents come to mind as I think about Barry. One was quite serious because he came to my rescue. I was water rafting with a group of people and Barry was on the raft in front of me, I enjoyed the calm river waters, but when it came to any rapids or rocks showing up, it made me quite nervous and Barry knew this and that I could panic. These were heavy rafts holding 4 people.

Sure enough every raft was flipping over including the one I was on. However, with Barry's quick thinking and strength he reached under the raft and pulled me out like a fish out of water by the straps on the back of my life jacket. I told him several times how much I appreciated what he did and if not for his quick response it could have had a very different outcome.

The other kind gesture was the thoughtfulness that Barry showed when he drew my name for Christmas one year. The Grove family got me interested in antique collecting. He knew I like the green Depression glassware and so Barry found a set of green Depression era champagne glasses! They were beautiful and I still think of him when I use them at Christmas time.

This is the Barry I will remember and think about - a truly real and authentic guy. A man that was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.

With sincere love and sympathy,

Kathy (Grove) Bryant
