Diane-Just found out about
your Mom & Dad. Have asked Marie many times for info. Wish I had been able
to talk to them.

Diane and John, my sincerest condolences on the loss of your dad. I learned more about him from the informative obit than I ever got from being your neighbor (and paperboy) down the street! I simply knew him as a hard-working guy, and the entire Smith family liked and respected him. I also missed notice of your mom passing. I only got to know her from my paper route days, and she was a real sweetheart who always had a smile and a kind word for me. I'm happy to know they are reunited and safely together again in the hands of our Lord.

I met John around 1986 when I was living on Dewolf Rd in the Haring/Dewolf house on the golf course. We would always talk about horticulture and indians. He would often be seen with his walking stick going for a stroll around the golf course at dusk. He always pointed out the unique trees in the area explaining what each one was. He never talked about his past - but you could see it in his character, a dignified, self confident, proud demeanor. I remember when he moved, Old Tappan lost a great resident and friend. God knows they don't make em like him anymore. Rest in peace and thank you for your service to our country !

I met John while singing at the Atrium. What a dear dear man. He always wanted the song 'Lily Marlene'. I think it reminded him of his late wife and he was always very sentimental when I sang it. May God hold him in his loving embrace and may he be in such peace reunited with his loved ones.

I met this wonderful man while volunteering at the atrium. He had such a sense of humor and was always interested in what activity he could attend that day. He would save bread crumbs in warmer weather to feed the birds. I will also never forget the pride he showed on Veterans Day with his new uniform, smiling from ear to ear.

Dear John and Kathleen, We are sorry to hear of the passing of John's father. Losing the family patriarch is always very difficult, especially this time of year. Again, we are so sorry for your loss. Michael and Mary Jane Coleman

Words don't begin to describe the fun we had with your dad on many occasions. I guess the best was fixing the door at his camp.
Sorry to read this and best to you and your family.

My deepest condolences to the family for your lost. May you find comfort in the God of all comfort because he cares for you. 1Peter 5:6-7
