Evelyn Overstreet Truxell, age 102, passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2018. She was born in Bedford County, Virginia on November 22, 1915 to the late William and Katie Overstreet.
Evelyn retired in 1973, after having taught in weekday Kindergarten at Plaza Presbyterian Church for many years. She was also a member of Forest Hill Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Andrew "Jack" Truxell, as well as two brothers; Graham and Jack Overstreet. She is survived by her son, Thomas A. Truxell, niece, Patricia Burks, and nephew, Fredrick Overstreet.
The family would like to express their thanks to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte and Elmcroft Assisted Living for their excellent care and service. The family would also like to thank Marian Akonor for being such a special companion to Evelyn.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forest Hill Church or Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte.
A graveside service will be held on September 21, 2018 at 1:00pm at Sharon Memorial Park Cemetery, 5716 Monroe Road, Charlotte, NC 28212.
