Bernie's heart was bigger than she was. She always put the needs of the less fortunate first, whether it was by collecting food or clothing for them. She always thought of her Seniors, concerned of their needs ( if they needed a ride, a visit, or a few words of encouragement). God bless you, Bernie, for all that you did to make this world a better place. We love you.

I will always remember your mom and grandma as the lovely lady next door, mom to my very good friends, always busy and dedicated to caring for her young children. I remember her as quick to smile, bubbly and vivacious, and happy to converse with friends and neighbors. Your mom and grandma impressed many with her dignity and perseverence in nurturing her family through unspeakable tragedy and challenges. I can see through pictures that she retained that lovely smile I remember and the light in her eyes. The many years of service she provided to her community and church is quite a legacy. Please accept my condolences for your loss and may your sweet memories of her be a blessing throughout your lives.

Bern, we didn't make it in the last years, but I remember who gave me my first bike in 1948; I remember who took me in when pop moved to Elmhurst so I could stay in Taft H.S. And I remember how you and Jeanne got me ready for my first dance/Party in eighth grade, brushing my only pair of cords and ironing a shirt. Yes, I remember and I will always remember. Your baby brother, Butch,
