I lived in the house behind his in Cinnaminson in the early 70's. I am sorry to hear of his death.

I just learned of Joe's passing from Harvard Magazine. He was one of the first people I met at Harvard -- and oh, so kind! We fell out of touch because he was several years ahead of me, but I've never forgotten his mentoring (of a fellow New Jerseyan) in those early, anxious days of freshman year. I always sort of hoped I would meet him again someday. I am deeply saddened to know he died so young after a long illness, though by all appearances he lived up to his tremendous potential irrespective of [expletive deleted] MS. My condolences to the family on this too-early loss. I am glad to know he has children in whom his good heart surely lives on.

I went to college with Joe and he was great friends with my college roommate, Marie Girardeau. He made us all laugh all the time.

I just ran into a high school classmate from Cinnaminson, and she let me know of Joe's passing. I have many, many fun memories of Joe; an immense talent in Middle and High school. He sings with angels now; and his legacy will be his warmth, great sense of humor, huge smile, intellect and of course his musical gift. After college; I ran into him on a bus from New York; he had just received his fellowship and was heading to Cinnaminson to visit his parents. We had a long chat for the length of the New Jersey Turnpike on that bus ride. He was such a sweet person, always, even as a 6th grader. He made Middle and High School fun for a lot of geeky artsy kids...!
