Karin was a joy to be with. She had an amazing sense of humor. I valued her friendship and her beautiful smile. Rest in peace my friend.

Karin was my dad's cousin, but I often called her my aunt. When Karin would arrive for Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner, the house always brightened with her enthusiasm. Her favorite color was purple, and one year she bought me a lavender sweater that helped me break out of early 1980s North Shore preppie mode and feel more like a stylish city girl.

Karin was a stylish city girl herself, and I always admired that about her. She had an exceedingly warm heart, cared about making people feel good, and wore great hats! She adored the actor Richard Widmark and Frank Sinatra. The evening of the day she died (this past Friday), I went to a jazz club in Denver to hear the music of Frank Sinatra. Not a coincidence, I'm sure! She would have loved it, and I wish she could have been there.
