Mai Blakley, 93, passed away November 21, 2017 at her Evanston home. Loving mother of Addrell and Derrick Blakley; cherished grandmother of Jonathan (Erin); adoring aunt to Marion Beck, Lorenzo Beck and Yvette Blakley. Born May 2, 1924 in Huntingdon, TN, daughter of Joe and Odie (Adams) McDonald. Moved to Chicago in 1945, met Wilbert Blakley at their mutual workplace, Western Electric in Cicero, and married in 1948. They enjoyed almost 60 years of happiness before Wilbert passed away in 2008. Visitation will be Sat., December 2 at 10 am at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 655 E. 88th St., Chicago. Funeral service at 11am. Interment immediately follows at Oak Woods Cemetery, 1035 E. 67th St., Chicago. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the American Cancer Society.

My mother and I had the pleasure of meeting your mother while she was at Alden's in Evanston. She was such a lovely person. My mother and I enjoyed visiting with her. I know she will be missed, but I hope your many good memories will bring you comfort.

Mrs. Blakley has been a kind and wonderful friend and neighbor for seven years at Drake Manor. I will miss her very much, as will all of us. Sincere condolences to her family.
