My name is joy. . .
I am So embarrassed this entry is so late, (I 'never' go on FB and found out just yesterday), but
I was a student/ debater at Glenbrook South High School-- where his wife, Emma, attended-- and an judge for several years after graduating.
Iknew Raja on a few occasions as an 'opponent,' :) -- the Privilege of which was to Me, as his intelligence and skill in meaningful 'argumentation' and advocacy was evident-- and knew him better in the years after graduating via
Emma. She, he and I were all adjudicators at many of the same tournaments.

I did not know him 'well well,' but as Emma and I were both judging for Glenbrook South, I knew him via her.

Raja was well-known for exactly all that is expressed in the obituary:
someone who
'argued' with INTEGRITY and with a
purpose for something he believed in; 'competitive' of course, as debate goes, but not without a breadth of knowledge into the issues at stake; and
a warm, KIND person to be around.

He shared his gifts with all those around him.

I am so sorry for the loss-- I cannot imagine. Yet his life was far from in vain; in big ways and small, he touched the lives of those around him for the better.

Emma-- have not seen you in years but. . . hang in.

warmly,as always,
~ joy b.

(Again- Not that anyone needs My 'opinion' or condolences in particular-- I am reflecting what you already know of him!-- but I am genuinely embarrassed for my lack of information on this. I don't go on FB much; always support db8 but have not been actively involved for a few years now.
Please forgive the late condolences here).

For Raja,

A gentleman in every sense of the word. The perfect host; ensuring that friends and strangers alike were comfortable and catered for. An adoring son, Dad and husband; loved and loving in equal measure.

Raja; the quality of your life has been expressed alas in your passing. The impact you had on everyone is evident in the mourning of all your friends and family. We have celebrated your life but are devesrsted by your passing.

Thank you for the time we got to spend together, in Ireland and in Chicago. Your life leaves a host of beautiful memories and you will always be remembered in our thoughts and prayers.

Marie, Paul, Éabha, Michael and Oscar Neeson (Dublin, Ireland) xxx

He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often, and loved much;
Who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children;
Who has filled his niche and accomplished his task;
Who has left the world better than he found it;
Who has looked for the best in others and given the best he had;
Whose life was an inspiration;
Whose memory is a benediction.

I'm terribly sorry for your loss. Raja was a unique mixture of high intelligence and humility. He will be missed.
