Back in 1967, Stan was visiting Buffalo, NY for an NHL golf outing. My father managed to get in and bring me along. With some prodding, I approached Stan Mikita for an autograph. "Sure, here hold my beer while I sign it", was his response to my request. For 50+ years I've been telling the story about what a nice guy he was. Sad to hear of his passing.

What a beautiful life you created after such humble beginnings, a shining example of what hard work and perseverance can accomplish. Yet your greatest achievement was the love you brought to your family. You were cherished by many, but it is quite obvious that you are beloved to the ones who knew you best. Rest In Peace, Mr. Mikita. ~Janelle Towne
