Nicole, Such a wonderful thing you are carrying on for your mother. I did not know her but I did grow up in Lemont many years ago and this fits my memories of that community. I am a 57 y/o man that has been reading your page with tears in my eyes for the past 10 minutes. I am not a "softie" so this is a bit unusual for me. You and your family has touched me today and I will do the same for other. God bless you and your cause.

Kelly was such a positive person. She has always been an inspiration to me. She was full of life to the end. I still get teary eyed when I remember walking out of the funeral home. There was a big basket of smiley face stickers and a note that said "Leave with a smile, I did!" I will never, ever forget that. That statement reminds me to live life to the fullest and don't take life for granted. Kelly you live in my heart and in my memory.

I have to say....I continue to remember Kelly and her family and find that R.A.K. is really something that is SO easy and satisfying! IF you haven't joined in...give it a try! paying someone's toll (behind you), or their coffee, OR just helping someone to their car, with their groceries (just be safe, always "ask"):)

To be honest, I've never heard of Kelly Ann Mason or what her family did in memory and in honor of her. I just this morning read the article about it on a local paper online. I was so inspired by that article that I decided to check out Kelly's Guest Book and now I am further inspired reading all the posts left here to honor her. What an amazingly loving way to honor your loved one. Kelly must have been a very special person indeed. May God bless her family for what they have done and the inspiration and love that has continued to flow because of them and Kelly.

A few weeks ago I stopped in a Goodwill Store, and was surprised to see a much loved but seldom seen friend of mine. We talked for over an hour while I thought how lucky I have been to have such a wonderful friend. Finally reaching the checkout, the cashier handed my your card and 10 dollars, which paid for both out purchases. What a sweet way to create a legacy for Kelly though random acts of kindness. She must have been a wonderful person. Thank you for letting her touch my life.

Hi Kelly I didn't get to meet you in life but you had to be a wonderful person to all those around you. Sometimes it's hard to believe in miracles in something that goes beyond ower selves either we can't see it or just don't know it there. Either way it's there how i know is because before now i've never heard your name int'l today i had to pay $30 doller's for pizza that i ordered for my family but i only had solid $100 so he trailed me to the store before we got there i was pulled over by an officer. Who asked me why was we trailing each other so close i told him the problem and he gave me the $30 dollers and a card that spelled out random acts of kindness / In memory of kelly mason. And on the way home i was thinking to my self after so long it's amazing that a person can leave so much love hope and faith here to where it travels threw out the years and threw time. So whoever you was in life was past on to others all across the world. SO I LEAVE WITH THESE WORDS I BELEIVE THAT GOD BROUGHT AN ANGEL TO LIVE AMONG US AND TEACH THE MEANING OF KINDNESS AND LOVE AND HER NAME WAS KELLY ANN MASON AND AFTER HER WORKS WAS DONE GOD CALL HIS ANGEL BACK HOME. SO MAY KELLY'S RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS GO ON FOREVER!

I am a caregiver, and I was in Pizza Hut the other day with a client that has Parkenson. He is a very young man to have to be suffering with Parkinson. When I went to pay the bill, the waitress layed this card on our table. I was so impressed I had to see what Kelly Mason was all about. She must have been a wonderful person, because she leaves behind her a long list of wonderful friends and family. It made me think of my dad, who I just lost in May of this year. I will keep the act of kindness going. Thank you so much.

Kelly - I often think of you especially when I see your family at Target. It's hard to believe how much time has past. I still can hear your laughter after all these years. Going through your guest book made me cry to see how your "Acts of Kindness" is still going strong. WOW...How you must be smiling down. It's been awhile since I talked to you...Nicole and I had a good laugh about how you use to put those funny red shoes on Tyler and how he could barely walk in them and those little sweaters...funny stuff. Anyway, it's time to say goodnight. Goodnight Kelly

Two days ago, I was on the brink of tears when I was driving into my local dunkin donuts. I saw a car turning in front of me and I paused my car to the gentleman and he held his hand up to gesture a "thank you". I reached the window and the familiar friendly dunkin donut employee said,"there is no charge, The man in front of you paid for your coffee". She handed me a buisness card that read, Random Act of Kindness-In memory of Kelly Mason. I just said, Oh my- The tears were already hitting my steering wheel....I raised my hand just as the gentleman did to gesture a thank you.
You see I have moments of darkness, especially when I am driving, hence the brink of tears in the beginning of this story. December 29th, 2007 my very first baby girl Tannin Grace died while I was giving birth to her. She was perfect, but the delivery wasn't. Everyday I think of her and what she would of look like and how much I would of loved having her my life. For the last three years I always wanted to do something in her name, and well this random act of kindness inspired me to do this also.
I am sure your Kelly is looking down and giving high fives to all her friends in heaven. How proud she must be to know that your heart did not hardened from losing her, and instead finding peace and honoring her this way!
Thank you so very much,
Jennifer

I would like to start by saying Thank You to the man who anonymously paid for a free round of golf for my friend and I. Your act of generosity with no regard to recognition is a true testament to the goodwill that exists within mankind. In this age of "me first" you are doing your part to restore the belief that we are all basically good. I firmly believe your Random Acts of Kindness are the ultimate tribute to your deceased wife, bless her soul. You are a credit to mankind and a blessing to those around you. Again, Thank You.

To Tom,
I've always said that people can be in the wrong place at the wrong time.. Well the opposite held true for me in this case. I was in the right place at the right time to receive your gracious gift of Kelly's legacy.
Yes at first, I looked for the hidden camera at the gas pump, but after your explanation and after you'd long gone, I realized that the true gift was your eternal unconditional love for your Kelly and her last wishes. that by itself is so heart touching, that a huge macho guy like myself had a tear..
Since that time yesterday, Friday 3/14/08, I've told numerous individuals and I get the same feeling from them as I have. My Mom called it a answer to her daily prays for me..
I decided to carry Kelly's card in my wallet until the anniversary date of next year. With that plan in mind, I took the card to Office Max in Bolingbrook to get protective plastic. When I asked the store manager what isle I could find the plastics, he asked what did I want to do..
Well I told him of the gift and showed the card,
he was so touched , he said he would like to laminate the card professionally for free..wow!
May God Bless you Tom and your family. And thank you so much again for choosing me for the gift, but more so, thank you for sharing Kelly Ann's Legacy with me.
Best Wishes
---Robert

I was handed Kelly's card at mile 17 of the Chicago marathon. What a wonderful gift of support and unity. I was at the marathon cheering for my friends, unable to run this year because of treatments for breast cancer. I think the bald head, pink shirt and pink ribbon gave me away! I am doing very well thanks to excellent medical care and the overwhelming support and prayers from friends, family, church community, co-workers, acquaintences and strangers. Thank you for including me in your circle of care for your friend Sheri and for sharing your devotion to Kelly's spirit of generosity and kindness. We are all truly linked by the compassion, kindness and generosity that we show to others. May Kelly's spirit live on through all of those she loved. Hugs and blessings, Susan Purcell

Hey Aunt Kel-
I just wanted to let you know that I have been thinking about you a lot... I miss having you around, but I am reminded of you every time I see Nik and Mel because so much of you is part of them. The three of us, as well as Mom, are busy planning my wedding and I wish you were here to help us because it's near impossible to get Nicole to try on a dress (remember her freshman year homecoming)- Mel on the other hand, she's willing to try on a million of them! I am also thinking of having them make our wedding cake (Mom insists that they'll be too busy as the maids-of-honor) but I am confident in their baking skills since they learned so much from their baking days with you (whenever there's a holiday, I cannot help but think about all the beautifully decorated cookies you brought over to the Sperka household!) Know that I love you Aunt Kel and think about you often--- we're all doing just fine and we're busy making memories and trying to carry on our old traditions, as well as make new ones as our lives continue to change and bring about new challenges!

This past Sunday, while at Mile 3 of the 2007 Chicago Marathon, my good friend Lauri and I were handed Random Act of Kindness-Mile 3. We had just completed the Wisconsin Ironman a few weeks before this & knew the power that came with all of the friends and spectators that were cheering for us. Standing at mile 3, cheering for every athlete that crossed our path, we were handed this envelope and thanked by the runner for supporting all of the athletes. In short, we were both overwhelmed with the power of this gesture and slightly brought to tears. We didn't expect this! We were there to offer our support to our fellow athletes, this was something totally unexpected.
We will remember the 2007 Marathon, not because of the heat or the cancelling of the race, but because of this kind and caring act.
With our Random Act of Kindness there was also a card included. May God bless your friend Sheri who is battling ovarian cancer. With friends like this supporting her, we are sure she is very loved.
Thank you for making our marathon a memorable one.

My sister and I were spectators at Mile 24 of the, by then cancelled, Chicago Marathon on Oct 7, 2007. A beautifully smiling young runner came up to us, thanked us for being supportive of the Marathoners and handed me the "Mile 24" envelope. We've shared the message of that envelope with our 3 Family members who were running in that sadly, disasterous event. Your message put a different spin on the day. We seem to travel in some of the same territory (Chicago, Lemont, Hilton head) and are deeply touched by your Random Acts of Kindness in memory of Kelly.

I was standing at mile #2 of the 2007 Chicago Marathon when I was handed Kelly's card in "A Run for Charity." What a lovely testament to someone who continues to inspire. I am still feeling such a sense of warmth and caring. Please know that I will pass on this RAK. Blessings and peace to all.

TODAY MAY 29, 2007, I WAS PICKED BY KELLY'S RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS. I WAS VERY TOUCHED BY THIS AND TOLD MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS. I NEVER MET KELLY BUT HEARED SO MUCH ABOUT HER. I WILL PASS THE RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS IN HONOR OF HER NAME.

Last Wednesday March 28, 2007,when I arrived to pick up my dog at her goomer (Creativity Unleashed, Inc. in Lockport, IL) I was informed by the owner, Bridget, that I didn't need to get out my checkbook because payment for my dog's haircut had been taken care of by a Random Act of Kindness. Bridget told me all that she knew about Kelly and her family and this wonderful way of honoring her memory. I felt very moved to have been touched by this endeavor and I have told everyone I've come in contact with since then all about it. I am very eager to "pay it forward" and bestow a Random Act of Kindness on someone else with the hope that they too will experience the "warm feeling" that a little kindness brings to another human being. Thank you for this experience and for renewing my faith that goodness, kindness, and love still do exist. Kelly must surely be honored and pleased with all of this kindness being spread around in her memory.
