MOREY FUQUA
Graveside services will be held Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. at Glen Oaks Memorial Park for Morey Wayne Fuqua, age 73. He passed away after a short battle with prostate cancer on Aug. 10, 2012 in Paradise, CA.
Morey was born June 12, 1932 in Brawley, CA to Susie Prescott Fuqua and David Watt Fuqua. He attended Citrus, Chico High (graduated in 1957), San Jose State, and UC Hasting's College of Law. He spent 3 years in the Antiaircraft Missile Battalion. Morey was a partner with Mathews, Fuqua & Puritz Attorney's at Law. He belonged to the noon Exchange Club, the High Sierra Train Club, and was an active member of OLLI.
Morey loved flying. He was the founding member of the Butte Flying Club. He also loved motorcycles and organized a trip to Alaska for "the boys". He also enjoyed gun collecting and recreational shooting, and lastly, his beloved trains and train club friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kaywood of Chico; daughter, Amie (Hans) Kaufenburg; son, Mark (Kate) of Durham, SC; stepson, Sean (Amber) Morgan of Chico; grandsons, Ashton and Zachary Morgan of Chico and granddaughter, Morgan Tarter of Chico, and Maryta of San Francisco.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Paradise Hospice House.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Brusie Funeral Home.
