I am sitting here on a warm, lovely day in late June...and my thoughts go out to my brother in law Jim. He was taken from us way too soon. I have warm and wonderful memories of summers past - bailing hay, sharing a chew and laughing and joking about the crazy world around us. Now I realise how young and how naive we both were...and I long for the love and wonderful moments we shared all those many summers ago.

Jim was a wonderful person, a great husband and father, and a devoted and loving friend. I'll miss our shared love for literature and books. I'll reminisce about him each time I crack the cover of a Stephen King book.

My heart aches for my sister, Laura and I only wish Jim was here to enjoy his well earned Grandpa time with Molly and Shane's new blessed arrival. I can only pray that Jim lives on inside this beautiful baby girl.

I met Jim only one time, when he spoke at my father Mack Shelton's memorial service. He described my father as his best friend, and I could see why they connected as they did. Jim's speech was so poignant and humorous. I think about his words often, even though it has been over 4 years since i heard them. I was shocked at the news of his passing, but I like to think that he is with my father and that they are sharing jokes and keeping everyone laughing again. I am very sorry for your loss.

Thanks to all who have sent a message about Jim. We as members of his family appreciate them. One never knows how many lives one touches over the years but it's obvious Jim touched many lives.
