I drive for the Ross County Veterans Service and have driven John to medical appointments for several years. Time with John allowed me to learn something about him. John was an American at heart. He had a concern for the veterans and all active duty service personnel. John was always polite with me, and he was one who was always ready and waiting for pick up time. Recently I realized how sick John was and how frail he was soon becoming. Above all else, just within the last couple weeks I was privileged to pray with John and Mary a couple times and offer a word of encouragement to them. They so appreciated my concern for them as individuals. Going beyond guidelines as a driver I offered John all the physical assistance in and out of the van that I could offer him. Over the years John had become a friend of mine and I will miss driving him to the Veterans Hospital. John had a desire to have a relationship with God and I can only hope that I had a small part in him fulfilling that desire. May God be with this family during this time of sorrow. My prayers are with you. Jerry
