Coach Sparks was my inspiration.. Knew what to do no matter what the situation on or off the court.. He was my coach in 1975.. I talked with him about 10 years ago, and was fixing to call him again, but just found this out.. I cherish knowing him.. He truely touched my life.. Rip Mr Sparks.. I will see you soon.

Tim and Kelly , I only recently heard about the passing of your father, I am truly sorry for your loss.
I can only say that he coached me in basketball and made the game fun. He was truly a very good coach. Above all he was a good and kind man who cared about others. He will be missed.

Sparky and I became friends at the plant in the Goodyear days. I took some friends and scrimmaged his JV basketball team, and spent many hours talking about his baseball teams. He was a breath of fresh air. He loved to torment Elmer and Dickie Wynn. I just read of his passing this morning. Work is not the same without the characters that populated the plant in my early years. Sparky is always mentioned with fondness, and will be missed. I guess that he and Woody have already shared some coaching philosophy. May the Lord bless your family.
