Bettye was my best friend. We were always there for each other in good times and bad. I thank God for blessing me and my family with her friendship. Her family was always her number one priority. Her and Oliver raised two amazing sons. I pray for their comfort, strength and peace at this time. I will always miss my friend.

My cousin Bettye was always a beautiful woman. Beautifully adorned every time I saw her. She had a very humble spirit in spite of her many accomplishments. I remember her telling us about how she participated in the strategic fight against unfair voting practices in the south and how they marched bravely on the Edmund Pettus Bridge on Black Sunday at age 17. So brave. She will be missed, but her life will be celebrated for many years. She and Oliver raised two fantastic sons. That alone is a great contribution to our Society.

my heartfelt condolences to her husband, Oliver, sons, grandkids and extended family. She was a sweet lady who was a sister in Christ as member of Mt Zion Glendale Baptist church. When my daughter, Elyse was a high school senior contemplating pursuing Nursing as her college major, Bettye took her under her wing and arranged a day of shadowing at the Va medical center. Just an example of how she reached out selflessly. My last conversation was of how much she loved and enjoyed her family, most especially her grandbabies. Rest with the angels, sister Bettye.
