My deepest sympathies to the entire Herche family. I first met Dan in 1978 when he and then CG&E controller Milt Van Schoik came to Miami University to interview candidates for a job in the General Accounting Dept of CG&E and Subs. It was a first as usually human resource people did the first round of interviews. After a couple more interviews I was offered the job and I began what turned out to be a long career at CG&E (and subsequent companies). Dan was always interested in the people who worked for him. And his joy of children was apparent because he always made sure to visit with employees children when their parents brought them in. One Saturday during overtime, I walked into his office to ask a question and he had his son Chris sleeping on his lap and Dan was working away! He was very willing to impart his knowledge and he once spent an evening helping and teaching one of my employees to reconcile accounts. I credit Dan with my growth an accounting supervisor and appreciated his directness and his humor. I share your sadness at his passing.
