CIncinnati - Gertrude Dock, 90, died in Cincinnati, OH on January 9, 2021. She was born February 10, 1930, to Benjamin and Dorothy (Hartman) Siegel. She graduated from Shortridge High School, The University of Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music, and Butler University College of Music. Gertie was married 52 years to her best friend, Bennie Dock. Gertie's greatest passion was her family. She is survived by children, Dr. Lainey Docque, Dr. Murray (Anita) Dock, Patti (Fred) Heldman and Judy Kanter; grandchildren, Michelle, Robbie, Ashley, Matthew, Michael, Jeremy and Adam; great grandchild, Jordan; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Gertie was predeceased by her husband; daughter, Dr. Linda Dock; and sister, Loretta (Mike) Hirsch. Memorial contributions: Congregation Beth-El Zedeck, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, or the charity of one's choice. Arrangements: A.R.N. Funeral & Cremation Services. My sincerest condolences to Patti and the whole family on Gertrude's passing. Gertrude and my father were around the same age and she was a great woman. A big loss. My sincerest sympathies.

Thank you for this beautiful obituary of a beautiful person and musician. As a longtime member of Indianapolis Matinee Musicale and a current member of the ISO’s violin section, I am grateful that Gertrude Siegel Dock was a member of our musical community. Her life’s work, a great deal of it through music, has enriched Indianapolis, and she stands as a shining example of what one life can contribute and signify. I extend my deepest sympathy to Ms. Siegel Dock’s family.
