James Harold Bracey Jr.

August 3, 1943 - April 13, 2021

Rocky River Ohio - James Harold Bracey Jr., known as "Geez" to so many, was a dad, grandfather, brother, uncle, friend, a coach and mentor passed in peace on April 13th, 2021.

He is survived by his two children Michael (Christina) Bracey and Brett (Anne) Bracey, former wife, Ruthann Bracey, grandchildren Rowan, Quinlan, Hadley and Seamus, sister Nancy (Paul) Ewing, nieces Kim Burns, Erin (Kenny) Muck, and Stephanie Zollinger-Maass, and nephew Brian Ewing. He is preceded in death by his parents James H. Bracey Sr., Rex M. Zollinger Sr. and Leah Ann Zollinger, sister Vicki (Brad) Manring and brother Rex M. Zollinger Jr.

James was born in Covena, California. He graduated from Millersport High School class of 1961, earned a degree from Ohio University and served in the US Army. James and his former wife Ruthann raised their family in Mason, Ohio where he was a dedicated father. An avid sports fan, he was always up for an opportunity to play catch in the yard or attend his kids' games. He was a man of routine and never missed a day of work, his evening jog or the chance to watch the Buckeyes or Reds on TV. Later in life, his grandkids became his inspiration and light of his life. He was up for anything from playing with toys on the floor to a session in the rocking chair reading books or watching cartoons. Quality time with them was all that mattered. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11am on Monday, April 19, 2021 at the Busch Funeral Home, 21369 Center Ridge Road, Fairview Park. (440) 333-9774 www.buschcares.com

I worked with Jim for many years at Ohio National and valued his friendship. He is of the those special individuals that everyone liked and enjoyed working with everyday. We had great conversations about sports, especially Ohio State football. It was fun to see how much he loved having grandchildren and would drive to see them on the weekends. May the Lord comfort his family knowing that Jim was loved by so many. Stan Peters

So sorry to learn of Jim's passing. I went to school with Jim at Millersport high and have many fond memories of fun times with our class and cheering for our outstanding basketball team which Jim was a part of. Also, I actually attended the junior prom with Jim. The class wanted him to come back for a reunion but we never got him to come. We will all have to have a reunion with him some time later when we all meet again. Love and prayers to all of the family.
