Served with Phil at Udorn RTAFB '67/68. In the last few years he would always be concerned with my wife and my own health issues. His focus was not on himself. He was just a great guy. Condolences to all his loved ones. t

I have just learned of Phil's passing today. We worked together for over 20 years and I can think of no finer person in every way. He was a good soul with a kind heart. He would always try to help and do what he could for others. I respected him and looked up to him. My deepest sympathies to his family.

Dear Dettmer Family:

I am expressing this on behalf of the entire office of The Cincinnati Post Retail Advertising Department from the late 70's (1977-1979) when I worked with Phil. This includes those of us on earth and those who are slapping Phil on the back in heaven.

Dear Lord...

Thank you for Phil Dettmer!

He was our "sparkplug!" He kept us lose...made the office fun...added a few "choice" words from time-to-time during those difficult years at the paper...and added to the workday enormously.

I can still hear his voice in my head and see the reactions of silent agreement (in many cases) or hear the outburst of spontaneous laughter by the entire open-aired office at one of his jokes or cryptic comments.

Sincerely,
His co-workers
The Cincinnati Post

To the family:

Phil Dettmer was a gem. He is on my bucket list of people to look up in heaven once there ... and to meet many of you.

A key memory, also, is Phil's dedication to his family and your needs. I remember vividly his job on Saturday and during the holidays at the lighting store in the downtown area.

Please accept the sympathy - and also the joy - of our department.

So sorry to hear about Phil. A good father, grandfather and friend will be missed.
