Cincinnati - Roger Ross, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, April 10, 2021, after a courageous five year battle with cancer.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, George and Leota Ross, and his nephew, Jon Porter. He is survived by his wife Rita; his sister Susan Porter; his children: Bryan (Betsy) Ross, Kathryn (Steven) Kretler, and Michael Ross; and his five grandchildren.
Roger was born in Washington state. After graduating from high school, Roger went on to study chemical engineering at the University of Washington. He was a member of the ROTC program and the Delta Chi fraternity. After graduating, he served his 3 year commitment to the U.S. Army in the Chemical Corp. He began his career with Proctor & Gamble in California, and he met his wife there.
In 1971, they moved to Ohio. With his work, he traveled throughout the US and to many countries in Europe and Asia. Roger was very active in his community. He was on the Springfield Township Zoning Committee, sang with the church choir at Forest Chapel, and was a member of the Queen City Art Club and the Ohio Watercolor Society.
Roger retired after working almost 40 years with P&G. During his retirement, Roger and his wife enjoyed traveling. He also sang with the Delta Kings Barbershop Chorus, taught watercolor classes, volunteered at a local art gallery, and enjoyed visiting with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be given to: The Sarcoma Fund: James Center at the Ohio State University; Delta Kings Barbershop Chorus; Northminster Presbyterian Church; and Ohio Living Home Health and Hospice.
