James Neher Obituary

JAMES ROBERT

NEHER

BONITA SPRINGS, FL - James Robert Neher, 64, of Bonita Springs, FL, passed away peacefully at his home with his wife and son by his side on March 2, 2013. He succumbed to a yearlong battle with pancreatic cancer.

Jim was born in Elkhart, IN on June 13, 1948 to the late Charles and Marian (Swartz) Neher. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Paula Riblet Neher; one son, Jeffrey Robert Neher of Naples, FL; his sister, Dr. Sally Feltner of Asheville, NC and her husband, who was more of a brother and fellow musician, Vern Feltner; his mother-in-law, Pauline Riblet of Elkhart, IN; his sister-in-law, Sandi Lowe of Naples, FL; his brother-in-law, John Riblet of South Bend, IN; four very special nieces, Lisa Apelian, Lori Lewis, Megan Haldie and Brittany Riblet; and his furry companion, Maggie.

Jim graduated from Elkhart High School in 1966 and attended Indiana University. During those years, Jim was lead singer and guitarist in a rock band known as "Six in the Morning." The band successfully played in many clubs throughout the Midwest. In Elkhart, they drew record crowds to their summer dances at the local Armory. Jim was especially proud when the band played at venues that included such well known bands as The Association, The Buckinghams, and The Cryan' Shames. Jim continued entertaining family and friends throughout his life.

In the late 1960's, Jim joined the Indiana National Guard serving his country for six years. During that time, he also acquired his first business, a retail musical instrumental store. He expanded his retail stores over the next ten years into seven successful retail stores in Indiana and Michigan.

In the 1970's, Jim and his father-in-law, Bob Riblet, acquired a thermoformed plastic manufacturing company in Dallas, TX which was sold in 1985. During this period of time, Jim and his father-in-law, who passed away in 1986, also acquired a laminated textile business selling their product to van conversion companies. After four years of continuous growth, the company was sold to Velcro USA. Jim was instrumental in expanding the operation to three times its size and adding three more plants. Jim retired in 1994 at which time he, his wife and son moved to Naples, FL.

After a few years of retirement, Jim was encouraged by many of his friends to do for them what he had been doing for his family since the 1980's…selling options on his own stock holdings. In 2002, he opened the registered investment advisor company, QFA. With this new firm, he began to manage assets for clients and specialized in the creation of option income.

In 2004, Jim's son, Jeff, joined the growing firm. Jim had taught his son how to create option income in his own account from the age of 18. Jeff will be continuing to manage the firm in the same successful manner as his father and best friend taught him.

In Jim's words, "I have lived a charmed life with no regrets."

The family wishes to thank Dr. Anthony D'Agostino and staff, Dr. Mark Moskowitz and staff, Dial-A-Nurse, and Hope Hospice for their kind, supportive care of Jim.

A private memorial to honor Jim's life will be held at a later date.

Memorial contributions in memory of Jim may be made to the Humane Society Naples, 370 Airport-Pulling Road North, Naples, FL 34104 (www.humanesocietynaples.com) or a charity of your choice.

So long, my old musical friend...you are STILL, and will always be,the best musician to ever come out of Elkhart.
You're the reason I wanted to play, to perform, to make people smile with a talent few possess.
We will play together, again,in the future in a place where the guitars are always in tune, the music is always beautiful, and the guy listening is always smiling....
Peace to you, my brother.

It was a great pleasure to have met Jim at QFA. May God have him in his glory and maybe one day we'll be able to greet each other again.

In Loving Memory

New to Florida, I began my employment search; Little did I know how blessed I would be, working with and for the Neher family! Kindness, Gentleness, Thoughtfulness and Wisdom, generously filled the office each and every day.
The joy was mine right from the start to know a man with such a BIG heart.
Your life speaks for its self Jim, your footprint embedded for many to follow but shoes that could never be filled. Paula and Jeff my love and prayers will be with you always! ~ Kelly
