Marvin M. Jaffee, M.D.
Asheville - Dr. Marvin Merle Jaffee, 84, passed away Thursday, October 5, 2017, at the Charles George VA Hospice Unit.
Dr. Jaffee was born in Canton, OH, and grew up in Youngstown, OH. He was a son of the late Max and Irene Swimmer Jaffee. He had served as a gastro-enterologist in Osteopathic medicine for more than 40 years, primarily in Pontiac, MI, and Tampa-St. Petersburg, FL. He has lived in NC for 14 years.
He was a member of Beth Israel Synagogue and Chabad House of Asheville. One of his greatest joys were his regular visits with his pipe-smoking friends at B&B Tobacconist. He was also a veteran of the US Marine Corps.
His family include his wife, Claire "Cookie" Mager Jaffee; daughters, Susan Jaffee and Deena Jaffee; son, Max Todd Jaffee (Suzy); granddaughters, Molly and Ilyianna; step-daughters, Deborah Rephan Stanton (John) and Jennifer Rephan Solondz (Barry); their children Cordelia Stanton and Samuel, Luke and Carolina Solondz; dear brother, Stanley Jaffee (Joy,) dear brother-in-law Judge Gerald Mager (Curley), nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Jaffee Burnette.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at Lou Pollock Memorial Park.
