Neal Doyle Grogan, Sr.
Leicester - Leicester - Neal Doyle Grogan, Sr., age 90, of Leicester, NC, passed away peacefully at the VA Hospice Center on Thursday, November 16, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas S. Grogan, Sr., and Ella O. Grogan and a brother, Eugene H. Grogan.
Mr. Grogan was a World War II Navy veteran who proudly served his country. He was a veteran farmer for over 50 plus years and a former owner of the Amoco Service Station in Canton. Neal enjoyed listening to bluegrass gospel and in his earlier years, he loved square dancing with the Canton Old Timers. Mr. Grogan was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church which he faithfully attended.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Zelda R. Grogan; his daughters, Joyce Anders (Michael) and Susan Holt (Michael Joe), sons, Neal Grogan, Jr. (Tammy) and John Michael Grogan (Angie); 8 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and a brother, Thomas S. Grogan, Jr. of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 20, 2017 in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Canton. The Reverend Bobby Smith will be officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Bon-A-Venture Cemetery, Old Clyde Road. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the funeral service.
