May the God of all comfort strengthen the entire family during this time of sorrow. Those who have died, God keeps in his memory because they are precious in his eyes. (Psalms 116:15) My sincerest sympathy. - Riles -

Jan I often thought about you and Tom over the years and the influence you had in my life as a healthcare executive and now as a professor of Healthcare Administration.
I'll never forget when he told this young man from Missouri that I was going to Bellevue Hospital in New York City so I could have a unique experience like no other anddifferent from my work in private health systems and university medical centers.
Tom had my thanks for a foundation for a wonderful exciting career. And we send you our best and blessings

I'd like to add my thoughts of Tom. We shared an interest in politics and political history, and every so often we would share book recommendations, and he would send a book he thought I would like. My thoughts are with Jan and the rest of the family.

Along with my daughter, I spent a wonderful week with Tom and Jan in the summer of 2011. I came to visit from New York City to begin to learn--late in life--to ride a horse. Tom taught me how to prepare a horse for riding and care for it after the ride, and he arranged for the property caretaker at the time to instruct me in riding every day. It was a wonderful experience. My daughter also enjoyed playing with Mocha, the poodle. Every year since then, Tom has encouraged me to return to ride "my horse," which was Chelsea, his favorite horse, but I had not taken him up on his offer again. I'm also grateful to Tom for his interest in my family (we are cousins on his mother's side) and my career in public health research. I so admire that he was still writing terrific manuscripts for publication, and never seemed to run out of ideas for more. I send condolences to Jan and all the family from myself, my husband Mel, and my children, Dan and Andrea.
