Howard G. Jue

Indianola - Howard G. Jue of Indianola, MS passed away to be with The Lord on June 27, 2020 with his family by his side. A loving husband, father, and grandfather, he is survived by his wife Susanna and his children Susan (Scott), Debbie (Richard), Katherine (Paul), Dianna (Tony), and Terry (Kaity) as well as 6 grandchildren.

Howard came to the United States as a child when his family fled China during World War II. He grew up in the Mississippi Delta, graduating from Indianola High School and Mississippi Delta Junior College. After serving in the U. S. Army, he managed the family grocery business with his father in downtown Indianola. He married Susanna in 1965 and together they raised a family while running Jue's Foodland for nearly 40 years.

Howard was dedicated to his family and instilled upon his children the importance of education and a strong work ethic. From his humble beginnings, he was a proud American. He loved the United States for the opportunities it provides to those who work very hard. As a boy and young man, he enjoyed baseball and tennis. He was a passionate Ole Miss fan and always looked forward to playing Mahjong with his Chinese friends in the Mississippi Delta. He was elated to see the Saints finally win a Super Bowl. Though quiet and reserved, Howard had empathy and believed in treating people fairly and honestly.

Howard was grateful to God for a blessed, fulfilled life and a loving family. He will be dearly missed.

He will be laid to rest on Wednesday, July 1st at 2 PM at Sebrell Funeral Home (425 Northpark Drive in Ridgeland, MS 39157). Graveside services will follow at Parkway Cemetery (1161 Highland Colony in Ridgeland, MS 39157). The family appreciates all those who have shared happy memories with Howard.

We are so sorry to hear about the loss of your loved one, Mr. Howard Jue. We remember going to his family's grocery store on Church Street as a young child with our mother, Mrs. Bernice White, to do our weekly grocery shopping. Later, they moved to Highway 82 and we continued shopping with them. He was always nice to us. Our deepest condolences to the Jue Family.

My family's friendship with Howard Jue and his family goes back so far that I can not remember when it started. I remember when each of his dear children was born. All so beautiful and smart and hard-working. I taught a couple of his children piano, and they exhibited such talent. My mother and Susanna were very close friends and shared a special friendship. He will be missed by all who knew him, and I am so glad I knew him and his family. My prayers are with all of you as you lay him to rest.

Indianola is my hometown and my grandmother always shopped at Mr. Jue's store. I also remember the one downtown. He definitely believed in hard work as was evident with the family working there. They sold a German chocolate cake that I love to this day and can't find anywhere.
My prayers for the family.

Prayers and my sincerest condolences to Mr Junes family and friends. I remember Mr Jue as someone I looked up to and respected so much as a kid. I used to ride my bike to his store every day, it was only a block or so from my house, so I would pick up things for my mom, Kathy Mullen, or buy candy or gum! He never failed to acknowledge me and make me feel welcomed and known. He always asked how my mom and dad were doing, how were my grades, was I working hard in school, what book was I reading, or how was I enjoying my summer. I remember my parents talking about what a good man he was and I was so proud to know him.
