Gil Holland received his last call on Friday, June 7th, 2019. It was the sort of call you can't refuse. It was a call for which he won't be returning. Gil would like you to know his work here is done. The call is a reunion with his parents and friends that have gone before him. Gilmer G. Holland, Jr. (GG) of Sagamore Hills, OH peacefully passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019. He was born on August 22, 1932 in Holland, Virginia. He was the son of the late Dr. Gilmer G. and Grace Holland (Bailey). Gil is survived by his loving wife Marianne Holland (Allen) whom he was married to for 61-years and his devoted sister, Jane Prince (Holland). Also surviving are his daughters Rebecca, Elizabeth Holland-Koch and his son, Gil; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Gil honored his country as a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Airforce and served in the Korean War. He graduated from Virginia Tech(VPI) in 1953 where he met Marianne. He retired from Harshaw Chemical, Nordonia Hill School District and as a welcoming greeter at Chick-fil-a in Macedonia. Gil attended the United Methodist Church of Macedonia. He loved baseball, tending to his garden and was known as "The Bird Man of Sagamore Hills". Most importantly, he loved spending time with his loving family. Please join his family for a Celebration of Life and visitation on Thursday June 13th at THE FERFOLIA FUNERAL HOME FROM 5 TO 8 P.M. Funeral Services to be held at United Methodist Church of Macedonia on Friday June 14th at 11 a.m. with visitation from 10 to 11 a.m. immediately before services.The family would like to thank American House/Vista Springs in Macedonia and The Hospice of the Western Reserve in Medina for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Timothy's Episcopal Church, 8667 Shephard Road, Macedonia, Ohio 44056 or United Methodist Church of Macedonia at 1280 East Aurora Road, Macedonia, Ohio 44056.
