As a former student of Ascension,( in the early 90s) it was always an amazing day when we saw the Zavada special being put on our lunch trays! She was a tough cookie and never put up with our nonsense, but we all knew her, and loved her. Rip Mrs. Zavada

Betty, Bernadette & Teresa - I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of your Mother as our Girl Scout leader. She took us on many camping trips - great fun for a bunch of city kids. Throughout her life, Mrs Zavada was such a dedicated, hard working, involved member of Ascension /Blessed Trinity. She will be greatly missed by many. Love & Prayers

I knew Mary as a faithful volunteer for the parish while I was principal at Ascension School. There are so many good memories that students have shared with me. I am sure you will miss her. Know that you have my prayers. May you be blessed for the love you had for Mary!

Mary meant so very much to me. I felt as though I was one of her adopted daughters as so many did. She prayed for me though my cancer and I prayed for her everyday; even a rosary the morning she was going to heaven. I loved this woman because she showed me in her actions what it is like to be a good Catholic and Christian. Bernie and Betty will never have a moment to regret because of all the many things they did for her and with her. I will remember the Home and Flower show, the many teas and functions at St. Ambrose that we were able to spend time with her. They will ALWAYS be special to me. God Bless this whole family. (Her daughter Theresa also, I didn't get to see her much.

OH! Such childhood memories of Mrs. Zavada. She was our Girl Scout Leader and "Lunch Lady" at Ascension. I remember her to be stern but kind. She kept the troop in line and organized. A sweet soul who lived a good life. Rest in peace Mrs. Zavada.
