"Dennis" passed into the loving arms of God on November 18, 2020 surrounded by his loving family. Beloved husband to the love of his life, Alyce M. Mooney (deceased); loving father of Mary A. (Michael), Robert D. Jr. (Kathleen), Michaele A. (deceased) and Thomas J.; proud grandfather of Robert D. III, Michael, Robert, James, Andrew, Thomas Jr., Maggie, Patrick, and Annie; great-grandfather of nine. Born into life on September 19, 1925, the last born of 10 siblings of immigrants Thomas Francis and Margaret Elizabeth (Cullaton) Mooney from Carlow, Ireland. Dennis heroically enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1944, following in line with the bravery of his late brothers, Thomas F. Mooney Jr. and John E. Mooney, after persistently asking his late parents to sign the enlistment papers. He was assigned to the 9th Infantry Division and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, a pivotal battle in achieving the Allied forces' victory in WWII. Corporal Mooney fought tirelessly and courageously achieving a Bronze Star for heroism in battle. Tragically, he was wounded in action during an intense six-week battle, receiving shrapnel in his leg and developing trench foot from severe frostbite and earned Purple Heart. After being discharged from the war, he became a tradesman in the automobile industry. His vivacious work ethic led him to found Dennis' Sinclair on Chagrin Blvd with his Godson, Thomas Dennis O'Connor. After much success, the family business grew into what is known today as Mooney & Sons Towing, which is now in its third generation of leadership and service. Until we meet again, Pa.
