Thomas J. Dean, a resident of Hudson, passed away unexpectedly on Sep. 11, 2020 at the age of 73. Born in Cleveland, OH in 1947 to the late Lloyd & Florence Dean, Tom grew up primarily in Slavic Village. After graduating from South High in 1967, Tom worked a variety of jobs in the Cleveland area, spending the majority of his career in sales in the metal heat treating industry. He retired in 2008 due to his declining sight and hearing. Tom was an active member of the FOP Associate Lodge #68, participated every year in the Jarod M. Dean memorial golf outing, and was instrumental in the creation of the Grave Marker Project for the GCPOMS, which memorializes police officers killed in the line of duty in the Northeast Ohio area. He was also a longtime member of the Masonic Ashlar Lodge #639. Tom leaves behind a wife of 35 years, Marie; sister-in-law Chris (Ron) Sharp; three children, John (Kate) Dean, Carey (Tom) Ceculski, and Dean (Lisa) Rivera; and 7 grand-children: Deville, Donovan, Thomas, Nathan, Genevieve, Madeleine, and Jameson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest son, Jarod M. Dean, a police officer who was killed in the line of duty in 2009, and his best friend since childhood Stan Wawrosz, who passed away earlier this year. Tom was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed by many. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7pm at Fortuna Funeral Home in Independence. Private internment at Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Tom was an amazing, friendly man - a pleasure to talk with and work with during the many FOP activities over the years. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends.
