Leonard helped me mill the wood for my shop and cedar deck for the house. Both turned out fantastic. He was a fine craftsman and could build a piano if he wanted to. A great conversationalist. We would catch a fish, get set up again, then try to remember what we were talking about. Time after time we never could remember. Catching those fish was too much excitement for our brains. Although Leonard never let me forget that I lost his favorite lure he had caught many many fish with. He would say ... I USED TO have a favorite lure.
Once he asked me if I would drive the boat and trailer home. He questioned my hesitation. I told him I wouldn't mind a bit ...its just that I've wrecked so many boats and trailers in the past. He was very concerned and I couldn't hold back my laughter. We had great conversations and great times catching fish. Deepest sympathy to Birdie and family. Until we meet again, Leonard.

I met Leonard a few years ago through the Coastal Conservation Assn. We started fishing together and became good friends. Even though he was eight years older, we had several things in common by both of us being life long residence of Vancouver and growing up in the same area of the Hights. He always had lots of stories to tell. He would say to me, "did I tell about the time so and so" and I would always say no you didn't, then I would get to here the story again. They were all interesting. We hit it off right away after our first fishing trip together. He loved to fish and would stay all day, which was fine with me. Because of Leonard I became a much better Walleye and Kokanee fisherman. He hand made lures that were very effective for both types of fish. He was a fun guy to be around and really cared about his family. My condolences to Birdie and all of his family. I really miss Him!!!
