LYNN C. GUILD
May 18, 1951 ˜ June 29, 2020

Lynn C. Guild, 69, of Battle Ground, WA, died on Monday, June 29th, 2020, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer, with family by her side. Lynn was born in Oakland, CA to Sebastian & Betty Maggiora. She grew up in Orinda, CA, the oldest of 5 children and the only girl. Growing up, she took care of her little brothers until they were old enough to harass and tease her.
Lynn met the love of her life, Steve Guild, at a community dance event. They married in August of 1971 and moved to Battle Ground in 1978 into what became their family home. They lived the rest of their lives there or close by.
Lynn was a homemaker when her children were young. She was a very active member in her church, school PTAs, Battle Ground Little League and Scouts.
When her children were out of elementary school, Lynn decided to go to college to become a teacher and she graduated from the University of Portland in 1995. She later earned her Master’s degree in Education in 2000. She taught at McLoughlin Middle School in Vancouver, WA for 22 years.
Family was very important to Lynn. She loved them all very much and it showed. She was very involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. It was important for her to show support by attending sports events, recitals, school concerts and plays. It was rare for her not to attend an event.
Lynn also had a love of the performing arts, traveling, food, music, the outdoors, teaching and her Italian heritage. She was very social and had a wide group of friends. Lynn was always the perfect hostess and loved to entertain. She considered herself to be a very spiritual person which showed by the way she lived her life with love, kindness and selflessness.
Lynn was preceded in death by her husband, Steve Guild; her dear cousin, Shirley Fleischman, who was like a sister to her; and her mother-in-law, Wanda Hayes.
She is survived by her parents, Sebastian & Betty Maggiora; her brothers, Ned (Karen) Maggiora, John Maggiora, Joe (Kathy) Maggiora and Tony (Amanda) Maggiora; her children, James (Danya) Guild, Kara (Kacey) Cerdena and Nikki (Jon) Kernutt; and 11 grandchildren.

I only knew Lynnfor a few years but when I met her at our Hope Dementia support group I knew right away we were going to be friends. She was such an open and caring and very welcoming person in our group and loved her humor. We had fun outside of our group and my heart aches for you all. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. Se will be missed by all.

The Maggiora and Rocca families grew up together in the East Bay, CA. Lynn used to babysit us. We always loved her and looked up to her as the oldest of the10 Maggiora/Rocca children.
I clearly remember Lynn telling me about seeing the Beatles in concert. I was mesmerized by the story of her adventure there. I also loved to listen to her record albums when we went to her familys house for the wonder Italian parties. That was the first time I ever heard the Rubber Soul album by the Beatles and played the album over and over again.
We are all so sad to hear of Lynns passing. Our love and condolences to all of her family members.

I knew Lynn when I taught in Battle Ground. She was one of my classroom volunteers. She was kind, patient and always so positive. She always had a smile and I really enjoyed her working in my classroom. She was one of those people that never seemed to have a bad day. She was certainly one of my favorite volunteers. My sincere sympathy to James, Kara and Nikki and all her family.

Lynn spent her working career helping the most disadvantaged youth in the area. That speaks volumes to what a person stands for, and is. I started my teaching career down the hall from Lynn.

I have known of Lynn ,through her daughter Kara. Kara is married to my Nephew (They are a wonderful family) It is often said you see a lot of a mother in a daughter. I believe that a family that could produce a Kara had to have a mother that is strong, kind, loving and a great teacher. The family will always bear witness to her memory. May she Rest in the Love and Peace of the Lord.

I team taught with Lynn at Mac for a year. She was one of the best teachers I have had the privilege to work with. Lynn truly cared about every student in her classroom. She taught me classroom management and many times I have thought to myself "How would Lynn handle this situation?" RIP to a wonderful educator.
