SHIRLEY VELLA NIELSEN

Shirley Vella Nielsen returned to her Lord on Thursday, March 24, 2011 in Portland, Oregon. Born on May 29, 1930 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Acil and Truly (Kofoed) Wright; Shirley was 80 years old.
A Vancouver resident since 2000, Shirley lived in Portland from 1953-2000. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Fisher's Landing Ward in Vancouver. Shirley worked as a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening, knitting, helping any person in need, and spending time with her friends and family.
Shirley is survived by her loving and devoted husband of sixty years Jens C. Nielsen at home; daughter Brenda (Gary) Holbrook of Beaver Creek, Oregon; sons Larry (Rochelle) Nielsen of Vancouver, and Steven Nielsen of Vancouver; sisters Gloria Smith of Beaverton, Oregon, and Greta (Harrison) McKnight of Sandy, Oregon; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
There will be a celebration of Shirley's life on Thursday, March 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Fisher's Landing Ward: 13600 SE McGillivray Blvd, Vancouver, WA. Viewing will be held at the Church from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Relief Society Room. Vault interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery: 11801 SE Mount Scott Boulevard, Portland, OR 97266.

I love you with all my heart grandma! I will always cherish you and everything that you have ever done for me. So many people love you and will miss you more than you will ever know. You are an amazing women and I am thankful that you are my grandmother! RIP Grandma!

Shirley was an amazing and sweet friend. She will be sorely missed. What a pleasure to know both Shirley and Jens. My thoughts are with you Jens, Brenda, Larry, and Steven.
