Dr. Charles Robert Mason
Memphis, TN
Born in Memphis in 1942 he was the son of Robert "Brick" and Mattie Van Mason. He grew up in Memphis and attended Whitehaven High School, where he excelled in sports. After graduating from Whitehaven in 1960 he married his high school sweetheart, Pat Holdford. He graduated from Memphis State University and from University of Tennessee College of Dentistry. He established his dental practice in the 100 N. Main Building in downtown Memphis where he practiced for 22 years before moving in 1990 to Decaturville, Tennessee, where he finished his dental career before retiring.
He was an avid reader, an outdoorsman, and enjoyed working with his hands. He was especially gifted in woodworking and painting. He also loved to play golf and tennis.
After coming to faith in Christ in 1975, his Christian testimony and service were the most important aspect of his life. He served as deacon at Bellevue Baptist Church and at First Baptist Church of Parsons, TN, where he also served as an Adult Sunday School Teacher.
Many knew Dr. Charles Mason as a friend, fellow student, teammate, colleague, or as family dentist. Some knew him as Sunday School teacher, fellow church member, and community leader. Those of us in his family knew him as our loving Dad, Granddaddy, Brother, or Husband. All who knew him, knew him as a sincere, sold-out disciple of Jesus Christ, a wise, thoughtful, and generous friend, and a consummate gentleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Robert "Brick" Mason and Mattie Van Mason. Charles is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Holdford Mason; his children, Kelly Rogers, Phillip Mason, Robbie Mason; one brother, Bobby Mason; one sister, Connie Mason, and nine grandchildren: Jonathan Rogers, Stephen Rogers, Mattie Van Mason, Carlie Mason, Charles Robert Mason IV, Ellis Mason, William Mason, Sarah Mason, and Josie Mason. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at 1:30 p.m., on Sunday, October 8, at Memphis Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Road, Bartlett, TN 38133. My Dear Pat and Family: This message is from a long ago Memphis friend (Paula Leonard). It was with extreme sadness that I heard of Charles' passing. As I read his obituary, I saw he didn't change over the years as he remained a faithful, committed disciple of Christ. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers for God's comfort and peace to surround you. I am hoping that someday soon we an meet again and spend time together. I love you,

Dear Masons,
I'm so sorry l missed Dr Mason's funeral. It's hard for me to articulate how much l thought and appreciated your husband/father. My time hunting with him will never fade my memory. Whether he knew it or not, he mentored me in many ways.......Christ first. He was always such a gentleman.....l enjoyed just stopping by the house just to see doc. l'm sorry l never got to tell him how much l appreciated him and how much i respected him. We had some great talks........not just hunting. l remember yall's house having a warmth of family love. he was so proud of the boys and Kelly. l'm a richer man because of doc. Everytime l go down Kirby and see yall's house i think of all the great memories..........he has a new home today........l will see him again..........that'll be Heavenly. The Bells love yall.
