Guadalupe L. "Lupe" Gonzalez, Jr.

Guadalupe L. "Lupe" Gonzalez, Jr., 84, of Memphis, passed away on June 20, 2017. The family will gather to receive friends on Sunday, June 25, between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at Family Funeral Care, 4925 Summer Avenue, Memphis, TN 38119. The funeral ceremony will be held on Monday, June 26, at 11:00 a.m. at Family Funeral Care, and the interment will follow at West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, with military honors. Born in San Antonio, TX on February 3, 1933, Mr. Gonzalez was a proud Army Veteran of the Korean War. Along with his wife, he was the former owner of Lupe and Bea's Texican Restaurant at North Watkins and Overton Park. He retired as a Maintenance Supervisor at the Memphis International Airport and was a member of the IBEW local #474. Lupe was very active for many years in the Memphis area Democratic Party and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Bea Gonzalez; his daughter, Odette Gonzalez Williams (Gaston); his son, Guadalupe L. "Rey" Gonzalez, III (Julie); four grandchildren, Gina Gonzalez, Angelique Sloan, Gabriel Gonzalez, and Nathaniel Gonzalez; and numerous siblings.
