Merrill came into my life over 30 years ago. He helped me in so many different ways I could never thank him enough. He was a gentleman, steadfast and honest. I grew to love him as my Dad. I miss him.

Merrill Varner was my step-granddad and I knew him for over 33 years. He was the epitome of what Tom Brokaw describes in his book as The Greatest Generation. Merrill was stoic, generous , hardworking, painfully honest, morally decent and spiritually devout. He had the clearest sense of right and wrong and of civil duty of anyone I've ever known. Merrill wouldn't have harmed anyone even if they deserved it and he was guaranteed to get away with it. Put simply, Merrill Varner was the finest man I've ever known & I shall miss him forever.
