I was so sad to learn of Otis' passing. My mother, Jo Lynn Yarbrough Smith, took lessons from Martha Scott with Otis in the 1950's and I began taking from Otis in 1965 at age 7. I loved tap and jazz! Otis was filled with such a love of dance and entertainment and that transformed all who were under his dance education! He was a huge part of my formative years and molded my love for dance. I know he was received with opening wings in Heaven from Martha and Jack! May we all dance in Heaven with Otis and his tapping stick one day. Prayers for his adoptive family, the Childresses. What a huge heart they have for taking Otis in as one of their own all those years ago and loving him unconditionally. I pray the art of dance will never die!!

Otis was such an amazing person. He was my dance teacher when I was five years old. And he taught my daughter Jamie for 13 years. Otis genuinely loved his students and loved teaching dance. Otis touched so many lives and we are all richer for the experience. My condolences to his family.

You taught me from age 2 73 until 18 89. You also taught my daughter (Jessica Remmers) for several years. You were a wonderful man and will be missed by many. I'm thankful to have had the opportunity to be a part of your life. Love you Otis.
