Ray was a great mentor and co-worker. He made many contributions to the dairy industry, but more importantly he had a positive impact on the lives of countless youth and adults. He will be missed by all!

Mr. Ray Spann: A wonderful person and an extraordinary co-worker while I was working with the research dairy at the Ames Plantation in cooperation with the University of Tennessee. Also, Mrs. Spann was often around and was obviously a loving help-mate for Ray. With loving thoughts to you all in these difficult moments.. Jim Anderson, Superindent, Retired, Ames Plantation

Ray was a true leader in the dairy industry for years and those children that he trained are the current leaders today. His legacy will live for many more years. He taught me how to be a quality dairy 4-H agent and I think of him often as one who made me that extension agent I became.
