Bill was a great police officer as well as a great friend. May God rest his soul.

William (Bill) Hardy was my primary True Name Bad Check Investigator in the former "Fraud and Document" Bureau, which is now known as the "Economic Crimes" Bureau. He was known for the great way that he pursued those Investigations. A Shelby County State Senator heard about his great work and contacted our office to talk to him. After they talked, Bill came to me and said he was going to walk a copy of the True Name Bad Check Investigative Procedures (that he developed), over to the State Building. From out office at 201 Poplar, that was only a black and a half away. We did not have email back then.
A couple of months later, he came to me and Lt. Ronnie Booze to say that his True Name Bad Check Investigative Procedure had been introduced at the State Capital and had been approved by the State House of Representatives and State Senate to become the Base for the True Name Bad Check Laws of Tennessee. Prior to that, the only State Law regarding Checks, was "Forgery". That is an undocumented fact, about my friend William S. Hardy. To date, there is nothing written about him in Nashville, to show appreciation for his great work. William S. Hardy is one of the greatest.
