Our family is deeply saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Aunt and friend, Winnie McKinzie, born on April 9th 1935 in Boswell, Texas. Ms Winnie passed away peacefully on April 7th, 2015, surrounded by a family that adored her. Winnie was the daughter of Jodie and Grace Countryman and had 4 brothers and 3 sisters, one being her twin, Minnie.
Winnie was a remarkable mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a strong, bright and happy individual. Her love for family and friends was always apparent in the soft twinkle of her eyes. She was filled with compassion and interest in others; Winnie made friends easily and maintained contact with many.
Winnie, an avid and a very knowledgeable history and genealogy buff, owned and operated Ms Winnie's Resale, a unique shop previously located in Coldsprings and now in New Waverly, TX. A browser's delight, the shop's trove of antiques and collectibles, just some of the items she carried. She loved what she did, often commenting how much fun she was having! She could easily distinguish between a true collectible and a worthless knock-off.
From Ms Winnie's family, she has been there through the years providing unconditional love. Mom has always been our boulder in life, taking care of each one of us. She has provided us guidance, love, and support through her strong, confident, and steady source of advice.
Winnie is survived by her husband of 61 years, William V McKinzie, son, Steve and wife Jaycee, daughter Melody and husband Stephan Gordon, and Daughter, Donna and husband Keith Moore. She was blessed with 5 adorable grandchildren, Brent, McKenna, Will, James, and Colby and wife, Sheila, and 4 great grandchildren, Max, Alex, Madison, Lorie, Claire
Winnie is preceded in death by: Parents - Grace and Jodie Countryman, Daughter - Linda Darnell McKinzie, Brothers - Leonard, Jesse and J C Countryman, Sister - Margarette Walker.
The family invites you to join them for visitation on Thursday, April 9th from 5 until 9 p.m. at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Coldsprings, Texas. The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 65 Petroleum Road, Coldsprings, TX. Graveside services will be held at the Pine Valley Cemetery.
