When colleagues pass, we often learn more about their lives through their obituaries than we knew vis a vis a working relationship. This is true again, with David. I am so sorry I didn't know he was a musician! But I knew him as a man with a big smile (and slightly mischievous eyes) who was a kind and supportive colleague at the Penn library and a talented addition to our staff. He was much more personable than many, and I especially appreciated that about him.

Dear Lois, Izzie and Lido,

Just a short message to all of you in the loss of your beloved husband and father. We have fond memories of David and our sons growing up and playing games together on Sundays at his Grandmother's house. We loved him very much. Prayers and blessings. Aunt Barb and Uncle Ken

Dear Lois, Isabelle, and especially Lido,

I'm so sorry for your loss of David, and am so sad myself for having lost him.

My memories of David as a Stanford colleague are wonderful, but nothing can match the warmth and pleasure of playing music with him (and of course with you, Lido). His enthusiasm, openness, and musical encouragement meant a lot to me.

May you always realize what a gift it was to spend a life with someone like David.
