Rest in Peace. You'll be sorely missed!
December 5, 2016
It's with an incredibly heavy heart that I write these heartfelt condolence words at the passing of my friend and fellow gun enthusiast Jake Berwick. I'd been absent from the SJSC range since August and finally made my way there this weekend to test a new "toy" out and show it off to Jake. As I talked and bragged about some pointers Jake had given me some years ago when I first joined the range, the person I was talking to had the unenviable job of breaking the news that Jake had passed some 6 weeks ago.

My heart sank and I spent the remainder of my time there refusing to believe it!

My deepest condolences go out to the Berwick family. You don't truly know how many lives you actually touch until you're gone, and I'm sorry that Jake may never know how well thought of he was by so many who crossed paths with him. Ever since our first encounter, I looked forward to two things whenever I went shooting--one, shooting; two, talking to him on the way in and on the way out of the range.

We shared a love for our country, serving in the military, and plinking at targets. Jake was a very talented young man, but even more...he was a wonderful and genuine human being. Very engaging and always willing to share and educate his customer. I know I'm not the only one who's hurt to know he's no longer with us. May God rest your soul, my dear friend, forgive you, and grant you ever lasting life.

Until we see each other again.

Sincerely,
LRT, Major, USAF

I am so sorry for your loss. Jake pointed me in the absolute right direction when I made my first purchase at the store. I thank him for creating such a woman-friendly atmosphere that made the 40 minute drive worth it to me.

Wishing God's peace to his family and loved ones.
