Thomas Buehler Obituary

Thomas Buehler

AGE: 73 • Winter Springs, FL

Thomas (Tom) Hartley Buehler, 73, of Winter Springs, Florida passed away peacefully on November 4, 2016, after complications of an emergency medical procedure. Tom was born in Philadelphia, PA and graduated from Hammonton High School in NJ and attended Rutgers University. He served his country in the US Army at Headquarters Company, 17th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Armored Division, and in the Army National Guard of NJ. Tom made a number of interesting career moves over the years, having worked as a programmer for the railroad in PA, building homes with his brothers at Buehler Brothers in NJ, hauling gasoline in NJ and FL, managing the computer systems for an auto dealer group in FL and GA, and maintaining telecommunications for a large law firm in Orlando.

At the age of 62 he accomplished a long-time dream by attending the law enforcement academy and becoming a reserve deputy sheriff for the Seminole County Sheriff's Office in Sanford, FL. Tom volunteered over 2,000 hours a year in the Domestic Security Division assigned to the Fugitive Apprehension Unit and sworn to the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force, with the responsibility of apprehending criminals and keeping our community safe. He was also a volunteer with the SCSO EOD Unit as an assistant bomb tech.

In addition to his wife, children and grandchildren, and two dogs, his passions were old cars and race cars, motorcycles, RVing, photography, wildlife and backyard birds, reading, and music.

Tom is survived by his wife of 30 years, Christine Buehler (Telkamp), five children; Kimberley Weido and Thomas Buehler of New Jersey and Julia McCumber, Christina Johnson, and Chip Sierputowski of Florida, ten grandchildren; Tyler, Austin, Cody, and Dane of NJ and Anthony, Jordan, Matt, Roman, Sydnee, and Nichole of FL, brothers; John, Bud and Bill Buehler of NJ and Al Buehler of FL, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Fred and Martha Buehler, his sister Ruth McCormick, and his brother Bob Buehler.

Family and friends are invited to a visitation at Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 994 East Altamonte Drive in Altamonte Springs on Wednesday, November 9th, from 5PM - 8PM. Services will be held at Northland a Church Distributed, 530 Dog Track Rd, Longwood FL on Thursday, November 10th at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Seminole County Sheriff's Office Community Foundation for the Tom "Pops" Buehler Memorial Law Enforcement Academy Fund at 100 Bush Boulevard, Sanford, Florida 32771 or A New Beginning Pet Rescue Inc., PO Box 536113, Orlando, FL 32853-6113.

I was so sad to hear of Tom's passing. He was a great guy and fun to work with when he worked at Lowndes, Drosdick, Doster, Kantor & Reed, P.A. He always went the extra mile to fix whatever the problem was. Usually, he could figure out the problem when nobody else could, and he always did it with a smile. My deepest condolences to his family.

I am so saddened to hear of Tom's passing. I just loved him when my printer would not work and he would have to come to fix it, but I would have to listen to his advise! When he retired from LDDK&R, I truly missed him! Be with the Lord, Tom.... Love, Maria Russo (f/k/a Napoliello)

Working with Tom at the Lowndes law firm was both a privilege and a pleasure. While it lasted only a few years, our friendship endured long after the working relationship ended. He will be sorely missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

You are the perfect gentleman, most caring, yet professional in all senses that many men attempt but cannot achieve. Those warm hugs that make the world bearable again. Comedic relief and sassyness when you least expect it. How terribly sad we are but better for having you in our lives. Thank you to your beautiful bride Christine for sharing you with us. Our hearts are heavy but strength will pull through for her and your family. Until we meet again Pops. Continue our Audrey Hepburn chat.
